The greatest trust that can come to a man and woman is the placing in their keeping the life of a little child”

Matthew's Family

I have been raised by awesome parents.  My parents have always been so giving.  They raised us to have a good work ethic, but still have been generous with their time and service.  I love to sit down and talk with them.  Whether my mom or my dad, I could sit all day and chit chat about anything.  Growing up, they have been great listeners, giving me support on all the things that I have undertook to do.  I can look back and see how far I have come with school, work, social life, and church because of their belief in me.  They have been great example to me in every aspect of life.
My dad is a health physicist.  He works around radioactive materials.  His job is to calculate the amount of radiation certain material give off and determine how to handle them safely.  It has been interesting to relate to his line of work as I am working in the nuclear power industry.  My dad started me up on my two favorite sports, golf and racquetball.  I've enjoyed all the times that we have spent together doing those activities.
My mom works at an elementary school as an aid.  She mostly works in the office where she gets to interact with a lot of interesting kids as well as their interesting parents.  My mom always has a funny story to tell about the kids at the school.  They all recognize and love her.  That is how she has always been.  I felt growing up that I had the 'cool' mom out of all my friends.  She could joke around and mesh well with my friends while at the same time, giving us space to do our own thing.
When it comes to a big family - I don't have one.  I know that my parents wanted to have a larger family but in the end, it was only me and my little sister.  She is 5 years younger than me. I remember when I was little I would pray to have another sibling.  Eventually, Marisa came into mine and my parent's family.  Beside being a sister, Marisa is a good friend.  She is very sweet, kind, and giving.  It's fun to get our dog and her cat playing together.  Marisa is also very responsible and a hard worker.  Her courage to do new things impresses me.
Our whole family has been blessed to have a shared sense of humor.  My favorite times have been when we have all been together in the living room goofing off with one another making each other laugh.  It is always fun to go back home and hang out with my family.
