The greatest trust that can come to a man and woman is the placing in their keeping the life of a little child”

Family Vacation

We had a family vacation with Matt's family. It was loads of fun. We went sky diving, surfing, hiking, swimming, shopping and ate lots of great food. Unfortunately we left our camera at home and really don't have proof of any of these things.
Okay, really we did do it all.  Ogden is the place to go I tell you. There is a place called iFly which is a sky diving simulator. It was so much fun! I'm glad we all got to do it. Matt and I took turns watching McKay. McKay liked watching everyone flying.
The surfing was also a simulator of a wave called Flowrider. Matt, Marisa and Casey got to do it.  My bad back kept me from getting to do that one. Maybe someday when it heals [if it does] then I want to go try it.
At least I had Matt's parents and McKay to keep me company. It was actually pretty fun to watch them do it.
We played a lot on arcade games, bowling, and mini golf.  We also drove through Ogden canyon and hiked around a little bit.  Matt was wearing sandals and I accidentally stepped on one and broke it. Oops! luckily there was another pair of shoes for him to borrow. It was all just lot's of fun.
After we got home it literally took me two days to recover and get me and McKay back on track. Fun times! I love Matt's family! glad to be a part of it.

Family reunion!

We just got back yesterday from an awesome family reunion with my family! We went to Paris Canyon to camp and Bear Lake to play in the water. It was a lot of fun! We had some experiences that weren't quite as fun either.

At 2 am I woke up cause I was freezing so I woke Matt up to help me find my jacket; he was by our suitcase. I'm not really that demanding to wake him in the middle of the night to get things for me. :) okay, maybe sometimes I am.

While we were finding a jacket we heard a lot of sticks snapping outside of our tent. Let's say at 2 in the morning any sound right outside your tent is pretty scary!

Matt woke up my brother in law Devin to help him check out what the noise was. It was a moose!

Matt, Devin, my sister Jackie and I with our kids got out of our tents and stood behind our car to give the moose some space. We went and woke up my parents. It's always better when there are more people to be awake with you in the middle of the night. My dad and the guys went and checked it out again and sure enough that moose was still there. It wasn't going anywhere.

We spent the rest of the night with my brother in law David and sister April in their pop up tent trailer.
Over the course of the next few days we saw that moose every day. It just so happens that it had a baby with it. Glad we didn't provoke it! It wasn't nearly as scary once we were in the daylight but that moose sure scared all of us good in the middle of the night!

Day #2 we went to Bear Lake. We parked our cars on the beach and as we were driving across the sand we got our car stuck three times! Twice on the way and once back. It took getting towed out by my brother-in-laws to get our car out of the sand. It was a lot of fun once we made it and I have a nice sunburn to show for it.

All in all, it was a blast and good fun to be with my parents, siblings and their families. I loved it!

Adoption

Adoption is always on my mind.  It is a part of me and my family. I love it, I live it everyday.
The last few days it's been on my mind even more as it's the two year anniversary of being placed with our beautiful son.  Two years today actually. It's amazing that something as big as adoption has only been a part of me for the last three and a half years, as we were in the process of adopting for 18 months prior to being placed with our son.  It feels like it has always been a part of me. Always there.
The thing I think of most today is my sons birth mother.  She is never far from my thoughts.  I can't know how it felt for her to place him with us but I can imagine how hard and difficult that must have been for her and probably still is.  We weren't able to meet her but I feel connected to her in such an intimate way for we share her son. He is ours together and we are connected.  That is what adoption is to me. A bond of a child and the birth parents and adoptive parents. All of us create this little boys life.
I love it. I am so grateful to be a mother and I am so very indebted to the woman who helped me become one. I love my son.

Anniversary Adventures

Seven Years!

Yesterday was our seventh anniversary. It was a lot of fun and always full of adventure. On Friday we went to Boise and left McKay with his aunt and uncle. We went to the Boise Temple, which was a great experience. Then we went to a Barenaked Ladies concert. It was outdoors so we got to sit on some grass in 102 degree weather. A little hotter then I would have liked but you know, we don't have any control over that. We also went to see Man of Steel after the concert. It was a late night full of fun things.
Yesterday when we were coming home we ran out of gas on the interstate. Yup. lame. I had seen before we left that we would need gas at some point of our trip and then I forgot about it. I was starting to fall asleep when Matt said something was wrong. I instantly remembered the gas. Oops!
The last time we ran out of gas on the interstate was 7 years ago on our wedding day. What are the odds? Happy Anniversary to us. At least last time it was because Matt's car had a gas leak somewhere. This time was completely our stupidity of forgetting to get some.  Anyways, we rolled to a stop, which just so happened to be near an exit and Matt ran to the gas station. As I was sitting in the boiling hot car I heard a loud pop.  I looked behind me and there was a van and their tire had blown. They pulled in front of our car and started working on their tire.   Matt got back with the gas [after having to buy a $20 gas can] and then we gave some of the people a ride to the gas station so they wouldn't have to wait out in the hot sun.
It was an adventure and in a very random way we were able to serve others. It felt good.
It's been a fabulous seven years and I'm excited for many more to come! Next anniversary we'll try to make sure we have gas in our car. Lesson learned [maybe].

Update on our lives

Hello world! I haven't been on here in a year! it's amazing how fast time flies. Here's an update of what we're up to lately.

video
This is an older video but It's pretty cute of the little guy.  Matt is so creative at entertaining McKay and I love it!
Matt for whatever reason had taped some newspapers together and then taped them to the ceiling.  McKay thought it was the funniest thing in the world.

For the fun of it Matt grew a beard. He never had before and has wanted to for a long time. It was a definite switch up but was kind of fun.  He actually just shaved it off recently and it's taking me a little time getting used to his clean shaven face again.  Matt recently got a new job, Okay back in July but it's still fairly new for us. He's enjoying it a lot and mostly cause he gets to draw pictures everyday.  He's a drafter\Engineer.

I have been busy and our house shows it.  I have projects everywhere and so every room in our house looks like a tornado hit it. We are re-painting \ re-decorating our bathroom and when I get it done I'm so posting pictures. Besides that I just try to keep up with a toddler and all my projects and I am loving life! I have been greatly blessed with a wonderful family.

Here's our latest creation. We found this frame a year ago at the D.I. and I fell in love with it but I just didn't know what to do with it.  Well I finally figured it out and here it is!

It took my lovely husband who painted the background and the trusty Cricut which I used to make the stencil and some paint for the frame and ta da! I am in love.

Well that is what we're up to.  Maybe in another year I'll post again. :)
